Uganda’s lone representative at 2017 Paralympics David Emong emerged Gold winner in the 1500 meters race.
Recorded a 3:58.36 ahead of second placed Algeria’s Samir Nouiou who clocked 3:58.78 and third placed Bulgaria’s Stoyanov Hiristian who clocked 3:38.94.
I am honored to make my dream come true, it has been hard work and I thank my country men Stephen Kiprotich and Moses Kipsiro who have helped me a lot to achieve this. I knew I could win a Gold when I finished second and settled with a silver at the 2016 event in Brazil.
Emong was the only Ugandan to represent the country at the ongoing 2017 World Para Athletics in London after the Uganda Paralympics committee failed to raise enough funds to enable other five athletes who had acquired the required timings to join the event.
